Just finished running it and had a great time! About four hour session for the The Avian Unit, The Boy Unit, and The Final Unit. Ended with one firebombing the stadium while another threw his body in the way of that fatefull ball, narrowly averting fate in the final moments.
Obsessed with the raw power of "The Final Unit"
I ran this at a micro con today, and it was an absolute blast. One of the Johnson's was a hapless guy just trying to get 35 hot dogs into his gullet, while another got into a fight with Barry Bonds that was so intense the stadium was blown away ("can't hit a bird if there's no baseball game")
10/10, no notes, I loved every minute.
Hell yes!!
I was the guy trying to eat the 35 hot dogs (I made it to 28! So close!). It's a wonderful game, and as someone dipping my toes into the world of designing RPGs, a real inspiration!
that's so kind, thank you!
such a beautiful way to adapt randy johnson's iconic march 24th game. I absolutely love the ways you separate his stats, make each unit unique, and most of all set up killing the bird as an impossible to avoid fate. It's a triumph of writing and tone, and I love how it all comes together.
Thank you! That's really, really kind!
hey I’m a big fan of your Draw RPG and was looking for supplemental material on it. If you don’t have any, I’d like to work on some with your permission. Either with you or by myself!
This game is super easy to pick up and play for players with any amount of experience with TTRPGs, and leads to some real laugh-out-loud situations as they struggle against their collective fate to kill a bird with a baseball, all while finding the time to accomplish their personal goal too!
*EXTREMELY CORRECT BUZZER NOISE*
The last sentence of the Special Trait section seems to end prematurely: "It doesn't have to be particularly useful or noteworthy, just different enough from the baseline Big Unit that"
Holy moly, thank you! Fixed version is up now.
Just played this with two friends and it was an ABSOLUTE BLAST. Total chaos and fun in the "UnitVerse". Against all odds and fate we did not kill a bird with a baseball...although The Big Unit's cat "Baseball" may have eaten a pidgeon. THREE STRIKES! (In a good, five star way.)
Signed: The Emergnecy Unit, The Delicate Unit and The Sumptuous Unit.
That's awesome! Thank you so much for playing
I’ve never roll played before
And I know nothing about baseball
I was born for this
Would anyone like to form a group?
I'm very glad that you like it. I hope you find a group, and if you do, let me know how the game goes!
10/10, randy johnson is the future of rpg design
You are too kind! I'm very glad you enjoyed it!
every sentence i read of this game made me believe it existed less and less
I don't know what that means, but thank you for checking it out!
